Question 1

What is scent marketing?

Accepted Answer

Scent marketing is the use of fragrance as a deliberate layer of brand identity within a physical space. A correctly chosen ambient scent shapes guest behaviour, shortens perceived wait times, extends dwell, and builds the kind of recall that advertising rarely achieves. The association a guest forms with a particular fragrance can outlast any other impression they carry from a visit.

Question 2

Is scent marketing right for my business?

Accepted Answer

If guests form impressions in your space, on arrival, during a treatment, over a meal, or at a desk, scent is relevant. The businesses that benefit most are those where experience is part of the proposition: hospitality, wellness, retail, events, and property. If you are working to build brand recall or signal quality beyond the visual, it is worth a conversation.

Question 3

Which types of spaces use scent marketing?

Accepted Answer

Hotels and resorts, spas and wellness centres, retail and flagship stores, offices and coworking spaces, gyms, restaurants, property developments, wedding venues, healthcare and dental clinics, and private homes. The common thread is a physical guest experience that benefits from deliberate curation. If your space has a reception or an entrance, it can benefit from scent.

Question 4

What is the minimum commitment to start?

Accepted Answer

The fastest starting point is a Discovery Set, three fragrance directions evaluated at full diffusion quality in your actual space, before any programme commitment. Full programmes begin with a brief call and space mapping session.

Question 5

Do you work with international clients?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We are based in the UK and work with clients nationally and internationally. Hardware specification, fragrance supply, and ongoing support are managed to suit the destination market.

Question 6

What is included in a Discovery Set?

Accepted Answer

Each set includes three 10ml fragrance oils selected to your brief, business, wedding, or home, along with diffusion instructions and a brief response card. They are designed to be evaluated in your actual space, not on paper.

Question 7

Can I order a Discovery Set for a specific environment?

Accepted Answer

Yes. When you select a segment, business, weddings, or home, we curate three directions that suit the tone, scale, and guest expectation of that context.

Question 8

What happens after I receive a Discovery Set?

Accepted Answer

You test the three options in your space and use the brief response card to tell us which direction resonates. From there, we can refine into a full bespoke brief or move you to a ready-to-deploy programme.

Question 9

What diffusion equipment do you use?

Accepted Answer

We specify cold-air diffusion systems that atomise fragrance oil without heat or water. This preserves the integrity of the fragrance and allows precise output control. Hardware is sized to the space, from a single treatment room to a full hotel lobby.

Question 10

Can I buy the equipment or does it need to be rented?

Accepted Answer

Both options are available. Purchasing the hardware means you own the machine outright, replenishment and servicing become your responsibility, and fragrance oil must be sourced through Scent3 to maintain the warranty. A programme agreement covers hardware, servicing, and replenishment under one arrangement. We manage the system and notify you when supply needs attention. Most commercial clients find the programme route removes the operational burden.

Question 11

How long does installation take?

Accepted Answer

Most installations are complete within one to two hours, depending on the size of the space and the type of diffusion system. We schedule outside of operating hours where required.

Question 12

How often does the fragrance need replenishing?

Accepted Answer

Consumption depends on space size, diffusion intensity, and operating hours. Most mid-sized hospitality environments replenish monthly. Under a programme agreement, we monitor consumption via our management platform and notify you before supply runs low.

Question 13

Can I choose from existing fragrances or does it need to be bespoke?

Accepted Answer

Both. We maintain a curated library of ready-to-deploy fragrances for clients who want to move quickly. For brands that require something entirely their own, our Scent3 Formula process develops a fragrance from brief, shaped around your space, guest profile, and brand character.

Question 14

How long does a bespoke fragrance take to develop?

Accepted Answer

From brief to final approved fragrance, the typical timeline is six to ten weeks. This includes space mapping, brief development, studio formulation, sampling, and refinement.

Question 15

Do you work with multi-site venues?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We build programmes designed to maintain consistent character across multiple locations while allowing for site-specific calibration. Consistency is managed through centralised supply and a maintained brief document.

Question 16

Is the fragrance exclusive to us?

Accepted Answer

Full exclusivity, meaning the formula is retired from our portfolio and held solely for your brand, is available on enterprise programmes. Most hospitality clients operate under a restricted-distribution arrangement, which offers strong brand protection without the full exclusivity premium.

Question 17

Are your fragrances safe for commercial use?

Accepted Answer

All fragrances are developed using IFRA-compliant ingredients, the international body that sets safety standards for fragrance formulation. Every formulation is reviewed against safe-use concentrations for the intended space type. We do not use materials flagged by safety bodies, and all diffusion systems operate within recommended output parameters. Our fragrances are eco-conscious and safe for continuous use in commercial environments, including those with high footfall.

Question 18

How is fragrance output managed and monitored?

Accepted Answer

Programme clients have access to our management platform, which tracks fragrance levels, operating schedules, and diffusion settings remotely. You can adjust intensity, raise service requests, and view supply status without calling anyone. We also send proactive alerts when replenishment is needed.

Question 19

Do you offer scenting for events and temporary installations?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We produce short-term scent programmes for trade shows, product launches, pop-up retail, corporate events, and weddings. The fragrance can be matched to an existing brand identity or developed specifically for the occasion.

Question 20

Can event items carry custom branding?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We supply branded scent products, candles, room sprays, and reed diffusers, carrying your event branding or logo. These work as guest favours, exhibition giveaways, or hospitality gifts, and each one extends the sensory impression of your event long after the day itself.
